italian architect david fischer designed the dynamic tower skyscraper so that each of its 80 floors would rotate according to voice command. fischer wanted to design a space where you could enjoy the sunrise & sunset from the same room. the rotation takes up to 3 hours & is powered by solar panels and 79 wind turbines, with one turbine located between each floor. almost the entire structure will be pre-fabricated offsite. construction is due to be completed by the end of 2010. // weburbanist

Today’s archidose #322: Jean Gang’s Wave
My first reaction to the renderings of this project was of being unimpressed.  But seeing it physically built, it’s much more interesting than I thought.  The way floor slabs occlude windows when viewed from the ground is a natural architectural phenomonon, and this is an elegant play on it.

honestly.  I wasn’t totally blown away.  this is a beautiful structure but why?

My first reaction to the renderings of this project was of being unimpressed.  But seeing it physically built, it’s much more interesting than I thought.  The way floor slabs occlude windows when viewed from the ground is a natural architectural phenomonon, and this is an elegant play on it.

honestly.  I wasn’t totally blown away.  this is a beautiful structure but why?
